You arrange the handover in the chat without having to swap numbers. The finder can send their location as a map link with one tap and attach photos. If they have already handed the item in, they name the place – a reception desk or lost-property office, for example.
Once everything is settled, you mark the case as “Resolved”. After 30 days Bee-ID automatically deletes the report and the chat.

Does the finder need to install an app?
No. The finder scans the QR code with the normal camera app on their smartphone, whether Android or iPhone. The chat opens straight in the browser – no download, no sign-up. So anyone who finds your item can message you right away, even if they have never heard of Bee-ID.
How does my identity stay anonymous?
When scanning, the finder sees neither your name nor your address or phone number. You message each other through a chat that runs encrypted on our servers. You decide what you share in the chat and how the handover works – for example a meeting point, dropping it at a lost-and-found office or sending it by post.
What does Bee-ID cost for finders?
For finders, Bee-ID is always free: scanning, chatting and arranging the return cost nothing, and no sign-up is needed. The costs are covered by the owner alone through the HIVE-PASS. Whether the owner offers a finder's reward is up to them.
Does the QR code work without mobile signal?
The QR code itself needs no power and no signal – it is printed on a sticker or tag and has no battery. To scan it and send a message, however, the finder needs a smartphone with an internet connection. If they have no signal at that moment, they can simply scan the code later once they are back online.
Which items is Bee-ID suitable for?
For almost anything that can get lost: keys, glasses, bikes and helmets, school bags, luggage, laptops or umbrellas. You download the QR code as an image in your dashboard, and with the HIVE-PASS you also get a PDF sticker sheet. Ready-made tags and stickers with a Bee-ID code are offered by our licence partners.
