How it all began

It all started with an everyday problem: my son kept losing his things at school and during sports. When his glasses eventually disappeared and never turned up again, I started thinking.

How do you label things securely, without leaving your name and personal phone number visible to everyone? Regular QR codes immediately reveal personal data. The solution had to be digital, anonymous and barrier-free. That's how Bee-ID was born.

Studies show that over 80 % of finders are happy to return a found item. But the journey to the lost & found office, or being forced to install a new app and register, puts many people off.

Bee-ID removes these barriers. As a digital lost & found service, we focus on maximum data minimisation and a simple process.

The core process: Scan – Contact – Return.

• Scan: The finder simply scans the attached QR code with their smartphone. For delicate items like glasses, we developed special skin-friendly UV stickers with a 7-digit alphanumeric code that is entered directly on bee-id.com.
• Contact: An anonymous chat opens immediately. The finder doesn't need to install any app or provide personal data. They simply enter what was found and where.
• Return: The owner receives a real-time push notification on their smartphone anywhere in the world and can respond immediately. Since Bee-ID is available in ten languages, the system works across language barriers.

100 % privacy for both sides

Privacy is Bee-ID's top priority. After a certain period of time, all chats are automatically deleted. If someone becomes intrusive, users can set blocking times or completely block the chat partner.
